In practice: you take the hotel's shuttle boat from the main island, step onto the resort's private motu, walk along the overwater pontoons, use the pool, bar, restaurant and water activities. All for a much more accessible price than a night's stay. It's the perfect way to experience the overwater bungalow lifestyle for a day — ideal if you're staying at a guesthouse or a hotel on the main island.
We contacted every major hotel in Bora Bora directly to verify current availability and prices. Here's what we found.

What Is a Bora Bora Day Pass?
A day pass gives you access to a luxury Bora Bora resort for the day without booking a room. In practice, you board the hotel's shuttle boat from the Vaitape dock on the main island, arrive at the resort's private motu, and enjoy everything the hotel offers — pools, beach, overwater pontoons, bar, restaurant and non-motorised water equipment (kayak, paddleboard, snorkel gear).
It's the ideal formula if you're staying at a family guesthouse, a hotel on the main island or a more affordable accommodation, and you want to experience the overwater bungalow world for at least a day. The chance to walk along the pontoons, watch sharks and rays through the crystal-clear water below, have lunch with your feet in the lagoon — without spending $1,000 to $2,000 per night.

The Four Seasons is the most "postcard-perfect" experience in Bora Bora — the pontoons, the lagoon view and Mount Otemanu are exceptional. Budget to plan: around €300/person for a full day without meals.
St Regis Bora Bora — Day Pass

This is probably the best value-for-money day pass in Bora Bora: shuttle and lunch are both included, with no unpleasant surprises. Only drinks are charged separately. Book by emailing the hotel directly.
The St Regis Bora Bora — our top recommendation for the most complete day pass on the lagoon.
If you only do one day pass in Bora Bora, make it the St Regis. Shuttle + lunch + full day until 6pm for 22,000 XPF all-in (drinks extra). The most transparent and complete package on the lagoon.

The Conrad Bora Bora Nui is currently under renovation and does not offer a day pass. One to watch for a future reopening — it's one of the island's largest resorts, highly rated for its architecture and position on the lagoon.

How to Make the Most of Your Bora Bora Day Pass

Day passes cannot be booked online. You need to contact the hotel's concierge or reservations team directly by email, specifying your preferred date, number of people and whether you want lunch. Do this several weeks ahead in peak season (July-August, Christmas-New Year) — spots are limited.
Take the shuttle from Vaitape
Bora Bora's luxury hotels are on private motus — small islets separated from the main island. The only way to reach them is the hotel's shuttle boat, departing from Vaitape dock. Depending on the hotel, the shuttle may be included in the day pass price (St Regis, Westin) or charged separately (Four Seasons: 9,000 XPF each way). Always check at the time of booking.
Plan a full day
Between the shuttle ride, settling in and exploring the resort, time goes quickly. For the best experience, plan a full day (arrive around 10am, leave around 5-6pm). If you only have half a day, the St Regis remains the best choice with its access until 6pm.
It's the best way to "see what it's really like" without paying for a night in overwater bungalows. Walk along the pontoons, spot sharks and rays beneath the clear wooden planks, have lunch facing Mount Otemanu. One day is enough to understand the experience — and often, it's more than enough.
