I went skydiving in Moorea. And honestly, it's one of the most memorable experiences I've had in French Polynesia. The moment you leave the plane at 3,000 metres above the Moorea lagoon — the dense vegetation, the turquoise blue, the motus — it's an image that stays with you. Not just for the adrenaline. For the view.
In French Polynesia, there is only one tandem skydiving operator: Skydive Tahiti — Tahiti Parachutisme. A French team, over 5,000 jumps completed, and a well-established reputation. They operate in Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora — three islands, three radically different atmospheres from the air.
On the programme: a 25-minute panoramic flight over the island, 40 seconds of freefall at over 200 km/h, then 5 minutes gliding under the parachute — time to take in the view. Safety is ensured by your professional instructor throughout the jump.
My skydive in Moorea — what I actually experienced
We meet early in the morning — 7am or 9am depending on the session. Quick briefing, gearing up, then we board the small plane. The flight over Moorea is already a spectacle on its own: you circle the entire island before climbing to altitude. You see the island differently from up there — the dense vegetation, the bays, the lagoon shifting colour with depth.
And then it's the moment. The door opens. And you jump.
The freefall lasts about 40 seconds — a unique sensation, a mix of pure adrenaline and a 360° panorama. Then the parachute opens, and everything changes: calm, silence, and the view over the Moorea lagoon from the sky. You land right at the airport. Two hours in total. A memory for life.
For me, this is one of the most memorable activities to do in French Polynesia. Not just for the adrenaline — but for the view. Jumping above the Moorea or Bora Bora lagoon from 3,000 metres is a perspective you simply can't get anywhere else. The Skydive Tahiti team is made up of French professionals with over 5,000 jumps each. It's reassuring and serious — you feel it in the way they handle the briefing and safety protocols. If conditions aren't right — too much wind, poor visibility — they don't hesitate to cancel and reschedule. That's a mark of professionalism.

Moorea is our top recommendation for a skydive in French Polynesia. The island is compact, with dense vegetation and deep bays of intense blue. From 3,000 metres, the contrast between the green tropical vegetation and the turquoise lagoon is striking. The island circuit by plane before the jump is already an experience in itself.
The operator runs in Moorea on Thursday and Sunday mornings, with two sessions — 7am and 9am. Book via Manawa, free cancellation if weather conditions don't allow the jump. Landing is at Moorea airport.

Skydive in Tahiti — mountains, beach landing and lagoon
In Tahiti, the jump offers a different view from Moorea — the mountains are higher, the relief more dramatic, and the vegetation denser. It's the "big volcanic island" atmosphere — spectacular and powerful. And you land directly on the beach, which is an experience in itself.
Tahiti is the most accessible island on the programme: 5 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday) with 3 sessions a day at 7am, 8:30am and 10:30am. It's the best option if you have schedule constraints or want flexible timings.

Skydive in Bora Bora — the world's most beautiful lagoon from 3,000 m
Skydiving over Bora Bora is the most spectacular of the three experiences — and also the least accessible. The operator travels from Tahiti to Bora Bora on request only. Landing is on the airport motu, surrounded by the lagoon.
From 3,000 metres, you'll fly over one of the world's most beautiful lagoons — and if conditions allow, you'll spot Tupai, the heart-shaped island, right next to it. The combined view of the turquoise lagoon, overwater bungalows and Mt. Otemanu is unmatched.

We strongly recommend taking the video option (+167€, total 712€). In the moment, you're so deep in the experience — adrenaline, sensations, view — that you can't retain every detail. The video is what lets you relive it afterwards, share it, and have a concrete memory of something exceptional. It's the only add-on we recommend without hesitation.

Conditions météo et annulation
Le saut en parachute est une activité météo-dépendante. Si les conditions ne sont pas réunies — vent trop fort, mauvaise visibilité — l'équipe Skydive Tahiti — Tahiti Parachutisme annule sans hésiter et reporte le saut. C'est un gage de sérieux : ils ne prennent pas de risque pour que tu vives l'expérience dans les meilleures conditions. Compte sur une annulation possible et prévois une date de remplacement dans ton séjour.
Physical requirements
The jump is open from age 11. Maximum weight: 90 kg. No prior experience required — everything is done in tandem with a certified instructor. No specific medical contraindications, but if in doubt, consult your doctor before booking.
Duration and logistics
Allow about 2 hours in total — meeting point, safety briefing, flight, jump and return. Arrive rested and preferably on a light stomach (no heavy meal beforehand). Morning sessions are generally the best — the air is calmer and visibility is optimal.
Moorea for the most balanced vegetation + lagoon view, and an intimate island atmosphere. Tahiti for flexibility (5 days/week, 3 sessions/day) and beach landing. Bora Bora for the world's most spectacular lagoon — on request only.
