Where to Skydive in French Polynesia?

Tandem Skydiving Over Moorea

Experience the thrill of a lifetime with a tandem skydive over Moorea — a dreamlike setting of turquoise lagoons, lush peaks, and white-sand beaches. Just a 30-minute ferry ride from Tahiti, this stunning island is the perfect playground for an adrenaline-packed jump in paradise.

Your experience begins aboard a small plane — or a helicopter if you choose the duo option — climbing gradually to an altitude of 3,000 meters (about 10,000 feet). That’s the perfect height to enjoy roughly 40 seconds of freefall at over 200 km/h (125 mph). Strapped to a certified and experienced instructor, you’ll feel a rush of intense emotions: excitement, awe, total freedom… and a serious shot of adrenaline!

Once the parachute opens at 1,500 meters, the pace slows. You glide into a peaceful 5-minute scenic flight above Moorea’s green mountains and glittering lagoon. If weather conditions allow, you may even get to steer the parachute yourself — a magical moment where you truly feel like you’re flying.

Between the adrenaline rush, the jaw-dropping views, and the powerful emotional impact, this skydive over Moorea is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience — as intense as the memories it leaves behind.

What I Loved Most About Skydiving in Moorea

Honestly? Everything. But if I had to choose, here are the moments that stood out the most:

The plane ride up: Flying over Moorea and watching the island’s shape come into view, with Cook’s Bay and Ōpūnohu Bay sparkling below — it’s already a breathtaking experience. Pure magic before the jump even begins.

The freefall: 40 seconds out of time. A feeling of pure freedom and raw adrenaline. I screamed, I laughed, I lived fully in that moment. And the view? Absolutely surreal — the deep blue lagoon, emerald mountains, and bright white clouds. A memory etched in my mind forever.

The canopy ride: After the intensity of the fall, the peace of the parachute glide. I loved this calm, suspended moment, floating over Moorea. When my instructor let me steer the parachute, I said yes immediately. What an incredible feeling — flying over paradise, in control.

The professionalism of the team: Super reassuring, passionate, and knowledgeable. You really feel safe from start to finish — which is essential for such a high-adrenaline activity.

And of course… the view: Simply put, I’ve never seen anything so beautiful. Moorea from above is a living work of art — an explosion of colors, shapes, and textures. That’s when you realize just how much of a jewel this island truly is.

Tandem Skydiving in Tahiti

Skydiving in Tahiti combines dreamlike landscapes with a powerful adrenaline rush — all in a setting that’s truly one of a kind. From over 3,000 meters (10,000 feet) above sea level, you’ll fly above the largest island in French Polynesia, surrounded by majestic mountains, lush rainforests, and a turquoise lagoon stretching along the west coast… then take the ultimate plunge, securely strapped to a professional instructor.

The experience starts the moment you board the plane. Excitement and nerves build as you climb higher into the sky. At 3,000 meters, the door opens… and you jump.
40 seconds of pure freefall at over 200 km/h (125 mph) — an intense, thrilling, unforgettable burst of adrenaline.

Then suddenly, everything slows down. The parachute opens, and silence takes over. The contrast is incredible. You float above Tahiti, with breathtaking views of Mount ‘Orohena, green valleys, and the glowing blue lagoon. This peaceful canopy ride lasts about five minutes — and if the weather allows, you might even get the chance to steer the parachute yourself for a deeper, more immersive experience.

The best part? A beach landing right on the sand in Puna’auia — the only skydive in French Polynesia that ends this way. It’s a magical finale to an experience that’s both intense and exhilarating.

What We Loved About Skydiving Over Tahiti

Honestly… so many things. But a few moments really stood out:

The plane ride up: From the first minutes, you feel the excitement building. Watching Tahiti slowly shrink beneath your feet, with towering mountains and shimmering lagoon views — it’s a show in itself, even before the jump begins.

The freefall: It’s hard to describe the feeling. A rush of pure adrenaline, your heart racing, total euphoria. And all of that with a mind-blowing view over Tahiti’s west coast. You feel tiny in that vastness — but more alive than ever.

The canopy ride: After the intense fall, comes the calm. Floating above the island, taking it all in, breathing, savoring. It’s almost meditative. And when you get to take the controls for a moment? That’s the cherry on top.

The beach landing: The only one of its kind in Polynesia — and what a thrill! Landing barefoot in the sand, grinning from ear to ear, with the ocean right there. It’s the kind of detail that makes this experience truly unforgettable.

The team: Professional, passionate, and reassuring. You feel 100% safe, while also sharing in their contagious energy. They really make the adventure even more enjoyable.

FAQ – Skydiving in French Polynesia

What’s the best time of year to skydive?

Skydiving is available year-round in French Polynesia thanks to its tropical climate. The best weather conditions are usually from May to October, during the dry season.

Can I skydive if it’s my first time?

Yes! All jumps are done in tandem with a certified and experienced instructor. No previous skydiving experience is required.

How long does the experience last?

Plan for about 2 to 3 hours total, including check-in, safety briefing, the plane ride, freefall (around 40 seconds), and the parachute glide (about 5 minutes). The adrenaline? That lasts much longer!

What’s the difference between skydiving in Tahiti and Moorea?

In Tahiti, the jump offers dramatic mountain views and ends with a beach landing — a unique experience in all of French Polynesia.
In Moorea, you’ll soar over one of the Pacific’s most beautiful lagoons, with views of iconic bays and lush, wild landscapes.

Are there any age or weight restrictions?

Most providers require jumpers to be 15 years or older (with parental consent for minors) and weigh under 95–100 kg (210–220 lbs), depending on the operator. A medical certificate may be required in some special cases.

What should I wear for a skydive?

Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe sneakers — and bring a healthy dose of courage! All safety gear, including your harness, will be provided on site.
